Our Community

Pittsburg - Historical Main Street Town

Located in the piney and hardwood forests of Northeast Texas, Pittsburg is a wonderful place to live, work, start a business, or enjoy a relaxing weekend getaway.

Situated along U.S. Highway 271 and State Highway 11—just 10 miles south of I‑30 and 45 miles north of I‑20—Pittsburg offers convenient access to Longview, Tyler, Dallas–Fort Worth, Texarkana, and Shreveport.

Pittsburg is known for its charming turn‑of‑the‑century architecture and classic Main Street. For more than 30 years, our community has proudly held the designation of a Texas Historical Main Street City. The natural beauty of the area—rolling hills, towering pines, and scenic lakes—creates the perfect backdrop for picnicking, birdwatching, or reconnecting with nature on a peaceful walk. Historic downtown features a blend of antique shops, boutiques, restaurants, and a cozy bed‑and‑breakfast.

Our downtown museum offers train enthusiasts a unique experience, with 33 trains passing by daily and exhibits that preserve the rich history of the railway station, much of which remains in its original state.

For those seeking a moment of reflection, Witness Park is home to the iconic Prayer Tower, featuring French Paccard bells and stained‑glass windows depicting the life of Jesus.

Pittsburg’s history shines through the 1902 Ezekiel Airship, built by Reverend Burrell Cannon and inspired by the Biblical Book of Ezekiel. This remarkable piece of innovation is housed in the Depot Annex of the Northeast Texas Rural Heritage Museum.

Visitors can also enjoy local wineries, stay at nearby guest ranches, or take advantage of the many lakes perfect for fishing and water recreation.

And for anyone with a sweet tooth, Pittsburg is famous for its peaches. Each spring and summer, orchards and roadside stands offer fresh peaches along with a variety of locally grown fruits and vegetables.
